Individual Counselling
In Individual therapy, I tailor my approach to meet your needs. I strive to provide clients with an atmosphere of privacy, safety, and trust where they feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, feelings, and relationships. Understanding people as a whole and helping them understand themselves and their relationships in order to increase satisfaction in living, relationships, and work are of prime importance. It is most common to meet once a week for a 50 minute session, however if you wish to meet more or less, this can be arranged.
Couple Counselling
In Couples Therapy, I draw from an approach called Emotionally Focused Therapy. We work to discover and identify the distressing, repetitive interactions that make a couple feel stuck in a very unproductive and unhappy "dance". We seek to explore the hurts that each partner causes the other and what the root of those "raw spots" might be. Increasing the couple's understanding of one another's inner selves and building a more positive, constructive cycle of interaction increases a couples ability to begin to hear each other in a new way and start to build a safe and secure relationship. I often suggest that a couple book a 75 minute session for the initial session.
Group Counselling
Groups will be offered when a number of clients are interested in addressing similar issues and are willing/interested in meeting with others to openly discuss the various topics. It is often beneficial for clients to meet in a group format to hear from others who may be struggling with similar issues and to feel supported by a number of people in addition to the therapist. The group process can be quite powerful and impactful. Group work can often complement the work you are doing alone with the therapist. Therefore, attending a group does not mean that you may not still meet individually with the therapist. The fee for attending a group session is less than individual session fees.
